2 Samuel 11
I speak to us today as men of purpose (men with a purpose); men called to fulfill destiny; men with anointing on our lives.
A man’s purpose is not defined by his past or our physical, cultural or social realities. Rather, a man’s purpose is established by God’s word about that man and who he is called to be.
The roles men typically play in society: husband, father, son, and brother
These statements of responsibilities emphasize the functions of males (the man) not in contrast to/in competition with female (the woman) but as a matter truth with regard to males.

A. Men are given positions of authority in their family, at home, church, communities/countries.
B. Men ought to function as leader, head, and priest for their wives, children, and the people over whom they have influence. C. He is provider, defender, and protector of those around him. When engaged positively, those functions bring about safety, security, and peace of mind. The opposite is essentially destructive. Men possess the capacity to get rid of anything and anyone who stands opposed to them. This has played out several times in the corporate world and even the church. |

D. A man who walks in his divine purpose/calling is a threat to the Kingdom of Satan.
E. He is able to establish the Kingdom of God through the power and authority that comes from God. F. Men’s inheritance in this context refers to being able to fully live out their God given/God ordained purpose; accessing and utilizing the resources that are available to them. It is important to note that the resources that are promised are not our inheritance but are means by which we access our inheritance (our destiny). |

G. Satan hates the idea of “purpose” thus purposeful lives. A man whose purpose is defined, i.e., discovered and enacted; in other words, the man who daily lives in and carries out his God ordained plan for his life, is hated by Satan.
The efforts by Satan to derail God’s plan for our lives can only be successful to the extent that we carelessly give room to his devices and ploys. An illustration of the interplay between a man with a God ordained purpose and Satan’s ploy based on 2 Samuel 11 and 12: |

An Examination of David’s experience as a man: 1. Becoming distracted - not doing what we are called to do. Getting off guard, taking a break, moving away. 2. Other things will occupy our attention (Prime target area our sexuality) The devil uses sex as a means to tramp men. Losing control of ourselves, misuse or abuse of power/authority. 3. More likely to fall into sin or engage in compromising activity. 4. We try to cover or hide our sin or our indiscretions - fix it or make it right 5. If we fail, we try more drastic measures leading to greater consequences when discovered. 6. To get back on track we must own the sin, repent, and ask God for help! |
