1 When David was told, “Look, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah and are looting the threshing floors,” 2 he inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I go and attack these Philistines?”
The Lord answered him, “Go, attack the Philistines and save Keilah.”
3 But David’s men said to him, “Here in Judah we are afraid. How much more, then, if we go to Keilah against the Philistine forces!”
4 Once again David inquired of the Lord, and the Lord answered him, “Go down to Keilah, for I am going to give the Philistines into your hand.” 5 So David and his men went to Keilah, fought the Philistines and carried off their livestock. He inflicted heavy losses on the Philistines and saved the people of Keilah. 6 (Now Abiathar son of Ahimelek had brought the ephod down with him when he fled to David at Keilah.)
7 Saul was told that David had gone to Keilah, and he said, “God has delivered him into my hands, for David has imprisoned himself by entering a town with gates and bars.” 8 And Saul called up all his forces for battle, to go down to Keilah to besiege David and his men.
9 When David learned that Saul was plotting against him, he said to Abiathar the priest, “Bring the ephod.” 10 David said, “Lord, God of Israel, your servant has heard definitely that Saul plans to come to Keilah and destroy the town on account of me. 11 Will the citizens of Keilah surrender me to him? Will Saul come down, as your servant has heard? Lord, God of Israel, tell your servant.”
And the Lord said, “He will.”
12 Again David asked, “Will the citizens of Keilah surrender me and my men to Saul?”
And the Lord said, “They will.”
13 So David and his men, about six hundred in number, left Keilah and kept moving from place to place. When Saul was told that David had escaped from Keilah, he did not go there.
Saul had been chasing David, and the spirit of Saul is still alive and he is still chasing us to try and prevent us from reaching our destiny and fulfilling our purpose.
Keilah is a shut in city. The devil wants to take God’s people and shut them into relationships, in covenants that they cannot get out. But God is here to tell you it’s time to get out of there.
In Keilah there were people that were afraid to fight, David had 400 men that were afraid. They wanted David to stay quiet, to hide. But David was a warrior but when you are in a place you shouldn’t be the enemy will set up road blocks to stop you. David had victory there but God told him to come out. Don’t resist God when He is trying to move you, He will make you miserable until you come out, God wants to take you to a higher place. We get comfortable but God has promotion for you, its time to move.
Saul’s plan was to cause you mischief against David, we are told the thief comes to kill, steal and destroy. David was no ordinary person, you are not ordinary, you are called. Don’t see me in the flesh, see me in the spirit. I am on an assignment, don’t get stuck in Keilah, its comfortable, we are use to us, we are popular, but there is a spirit there that is planning mischief for you.
There are some people that are in relationships that they should not be in but its time to get out. There is always the temptation to stay when you are happy and comfortable, expect trials and pain, despair expect hurricanes to come. The Devil hates you, obey God when he tells you to move.
The people of Keilah were ungrateful. Maybe you served your family well, but your season to get out has come.
In Keilah there is deception but God is set to bless you and you are locked down but God has a plan for you. You are still God’s called and anointed servant of God. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.
There comes a time when you have to change position. David had to be processed and had to learn to lean on God and He will do the same with you.
Don’t evaluate and analyze God He will do it, He is a promise keeper, a way maker.
To get to your promised land you have to change you position, get out of Keilah. God has a better plan. Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails. God is brining you out, your tomorrow is coming, your season is here. You are coming out of this old position of pain and frustration, get ready to get out.
You will survive, you may be in prison, but don’t let the prison get into you. If you stay in there with no hope you will die. Where you are maybe now is a place of disadvantage, a place with deceptive people surrounding you. Time up, God is calling you out to a better place. David experienced that and God brought him out to a place of victory.
You have a call on your life. Keep that dream, keep the faith, God will bring you out. God has sent the word especially for you. You are called by God, you are special to God. You have a big future in God.
You are not there always this is the end of your there. Don’t make a permanent decision in a temporary place. If your mind has told you that you are coming out then you have to bring your body in line. What is your mind saying today? Do you feel boxed in and trapped, God is a God of mercy He will cast your sins in the sea of forgetfulness. This is the end of the day of being there you feel hemmed in a place of bars and gates and mischief. It’s not a good place to be at, God is going to make you so uncomfortable that you will have to come out. God is giving you the second chance. Praise God.
God has come to set you free, He has a package for you pressed down, and shaken together, and running over.
God has had you separated he has been training. God was taking David from Keilah to Hebron to crown him king. God will bring people around you to get you there.
David was hiding out, but he was still in God’s plan. He has a plan and purpose and it will happen. God is changing your course and your paradigm, your season has come for change and He is brining you out.
Today is your day of escape, to get away and have a chance to live again. David enquired of God and we must get direction from God in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.
This is not a work of man, it is the work of God.
Your success depends on your obedience. If David had stayed he would not have made it out, if he had not left he would have been killed. His obedience was key to his victory.
God said to Abraham to leave his comfort zone so that he could be blessed. And Abraham departed even though he was an old man. He did not weight the advantages or disadvantages he just left and God blessed him for generations.
God will deliver you from your enemies, just as he did for David.
Give God a chance to prove himself to you.
