br>Text: Genesis 6:5-13; 17-18

5 The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. 6 The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled. 7 So the Lord said, “I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.” 8 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.
9 This is the account of Noah and his family.
Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God. 10 Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth.
11 Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. 13 So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.
17 I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish. 18 But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you.
Today we are seeing unprecedented events of violence and evil. There is wickedness in high places.
As in the days of Noah we are seeing the consciousness of man seared by wickedness.
In Noah’s time he alone was walking with the Lord.
In
Matthew 24:37-39 Jesus speaks prophetically
37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away.
God is raising up a Noah generation people that will get ready for the second coming.
The flood is a typology of what is coming
God will judge He punishes the wicket and saves the just. God is giving us a chance.
Noah is Enoch’s grandson but the people in the land were wicked so much so that God regretted making man. He had designed man to have fellowship with man. But five chapters down the road God is sorry he made man.
What is God saying today?
Despite the chaos and evil today God is still merciful. He is still interested in human life. God remembered Noah and he was rewarded and God was compassionate. He gave the people over 120 years time to turn to repent.
But they chose to be wicket and evil. The world depends upon us. During COVID the church was pushed to one side it was not considered essential.
But God has called us to step into the Arc. He is calling for a people that will set themselves apart and be righteous unto the Lord. The deception of the gradual just sits down and allow things.
In 1 Samuel we see Eli just tolerating evil over time there was wickedness in the house of God.
Noah walked with the Lord so when times came and God looked down He saw a light.
18 But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you.
Today are we in covenant with God or are we grieving God?
God always provides us a way of escape. He is merciful, loving and full of grace. He will give us chances. When Jesus came to the earth it was His way of providing a second chance.
In
Isaiah 54:9-10
9 “To me this is like the days of Noah,
when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth.
So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never to rebuke you again.
10 Though the mountains be shaken
and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
Noah was given opposition and even today Christians face opposition and persecution.
God is looking for the generation of Noah.
Genesis 6:22
22 Noah did everything just as God commanded him.
Genesis 7:13-16
13 On that very day Noah and his sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth, together with his wife and the wives of his three sons, entered the ark. 14 They had with them every wild animal according to its kind, all livestock according to their kinds, every creature that moves along the ground according to its kind and every bird according to its kind, everything with wings. 15 Pairs of all creatures that have the breath of life in them came to Noah and entered the ark. 16 The animals going in were male and female of every living thing, as God had commanded Noah. Then the Lord shut him in.
God will shut the door in our Arc and keep danger from us.
The Arc is our place of refuge our shelter.
Psalm91:1-2
1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
In
Matthew 24 and
Luke 17 Jesus speaks of His coming. In those days people will be preoccupied in their own ways and were not prepared. God has sent this word to warn us.
But God is looking for a Noah generation that will be holy before the Lord.
Don’t be at the wheel and asleep, the signs are in the heavens, Jesus will return, He is telling us to get ready.
Jesus warns us: “Watch out that no one deceives you.” He will make a way for our escape. Do not be like the fooling virgins unprepared, God is saying get ready. Have a heart that God can call on us. Focus on your readiness. God is looking for you just as in the days of Noah. Will we be ready? Are we righteous in Christ? Are you obedient, are you persevering to the end?
