Speaker: Rev Elvis Goodman Subject: Get up and walk Text: John 5: 1 -8 Sometime later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish festivals. 2 Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda[a] and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. 3 Here a great number of disabled people used to lie—the blind, the lame, the paralyzed. 5 One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?” 7 “Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.” 8 Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” 9 At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked. There is always a time when you can help some one especially someone that cannot help us back in return. Look to help people: Luke 12: 12-14 Keep your eyes on Jesus, keep the Faith all things are possible with God. Trust God in His Word. His Favor is uncommon: unusual circumstances happen or things are giving Ever child of God should trust in God and rest in His favour . 1. You are not alone You will not be on the mountain top all the time or in the valley all the time but God is always with you. 38 years paralyzed he was waiting a long time and people got ahead of him. He may have been blaming himself because of his sickness but Jesus came on the scene, He was not alone. God does not turn up empty handed. The man at the pool was not always that way Verse 14 Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, “See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.” Jesus wanted to know what he wanted and the response was not like blind Barnabus he was loosing hope he grumbled I have no one to help me Keep your eyes on Jesus and find favour . He got a personal touch from Jesus, He went to him not like most who went to see Jesus. All of us can experience the personal touch at Salvation and throughout the journey. We will overcome, we have favor with God. Jesus gave the man a Personal touch just as He did with Moses, Samuel, Saul on the road to Damascus that resulted in a name change. God is concerned about you; He will cause someone to pray for you. God will turn up with something for you. We give God the honor and glory and He gives us something in return. 2. Know who you are Verse 7 “Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.” We have challenges because we don't know who we are. We must learn to shake off all our problems this can happen when we come to the house of God. Walk in power, walk in victory, know who you are. Get a word in your mouth for God to confirm that word. Use words that strengthen you . Go home making declarations with the words. Speak things as though they were. Words form your thoughts Thoughts form your action Use the Word of God, be filled with the Word. Words to stand on, words are powerful they form your life, know who you are use the word over your problems over your needs Make declarations over your life, your family. Circumstances may cause you to be dismayed but stand on God’s word. We can come to the house of God to be strengthened, healed, comforted or chastised. We should not leave defeated and discouraged. God has not forgotten you! Know who you are! 3.Get your blessings Verse 8. Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” 9 At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked. This was his day for salvation and restoration. At The command of Jesus the man got up and walked. get up and walk and get your victory. The man by the pool was thinking about shoes, dreaming about dancing, running, skipping. Don’t stop dreaming, get up and get going pursue your dreams. Verse 9 at once he got up. He left the mat a place representative of laziness, we can get comfortable where we are. It represents procrastination and sickness. It represents delay, delay of dreams. Get up and walk God is going to help you. Get up and take action. Faith without works is dead. If you want to grow spiritually get up and spend time with the LORD, read the Bible, pray. Don’t wait around for people to help you, trust God, remember you wear a crown of favour. Get up and walk, in the old days walking was essential now people walk to get fit. We need to step out in faith We must get up and walk, Walking in blessing and favour, what God said with His mouth He will do with His hands. It will come out way!!! Mount Zion Millions Intl. We will give and share what we have with others. We must practice our favour walk! |
