Text: Matthew 14:22-23 Title: Keep your eyes on Jesus Don’t be distracted by the things around us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, then you are not worried about your circumstances. In the days we are living in we must keep our eyes on Jesus. Only Jesus today can save us in the violent world we live in. Matthew 14: 22- 32 22 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. 23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, 24 and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it. 25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. 27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” 28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” 29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” 32 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. 33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” 1. Your concern is God’s concern. God cares about what you care about because He cares about you. Your life, your needs, your weaknesses. Verse 25: Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. Jesus cared so much that he ventured out . Not in a lovely calm lake in the afternoon remember they were being buffeted by the waves because the wind was against them. Eyes fixed in the Lord will guarantee that you reach your destination. It is comforting to know that there is nothing that has occurred in your life that God does not know about. He is interested in your well being, your health, your wealth He is interested in you as an individual. He has committed himself to you. 2. Your success is His priority You must reach a stage in life where your priorities must ensure that God’s plan and purpose for your life becomes a reality. Normally we want to do things our ways. Isaiah 54: 17 No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord. Your soul, body and mind is His priority, everything about you is His priority. It is demonstrated in how we respond, our kindness, attitude, respect for others etc. God’s plans are always good to us who love him. Make sure your household is accountable to God. His ultimate concern is with the success of those who follow Him. He is greater than any external circumstance. 3. When you achieve the impossible it is His delight When you keep your eyes on Jesus you will achieve the impossible because all things are possible with God . God wants you to make it big, He wants you to make a difference. God has not called us to be ordinary but extraordinary. He said we were a peculiar people, a royal priesthood. God delights in you and I we are His delight. |
