January 19th 2020 Sermon Notes:

Speaker: Apostle Dr Lucille Baird
Theme: 3. STAY IN CONSTANT CONNECTION WITH YOUR GOD
Text: Exodus 13

“LED AND FED BY THE OUTSTRETCHED HAND OF GOD, UNDER AN OPEN HEAVEN.”

This month our theme is Gratefulness.

3. STAY IN CONSTANT CONNECTION WITH YOUR GOD
Exodus 13:14 New International Version
14 “In days to come, when your son asks you, ‘What does this mean?’ say to him, ‘With a mighty hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

He is your director, your road map, your guide

Exodus 13:18 New International Version '
18 So God led the people around by the desert road toward the Red Sea. The Israelites went up out of Egypt ready for battle.

God expects us to be in intimate with Him.
He came down to be intimate with Adam and Eve.

Exodus 6: 1-2, 6, 8
1 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: Because of my mighty hand he will let them go; because of my mighty hand he will drive them out of his country.”
2 God also said to Moses, “I am the Lord.

6 “Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. 8 And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the Lord.’”

Exodus 7: 1,11-14,19
7 Then the Lord said to Moses, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet.

11 Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts: 12 Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs. 13 Yet Pharaoh’s heart became hard and he would not listen to them, just as the Lord had said.
14 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Pharaoh’s heart is unyielding; he refuses to let the people go.

19 The Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt—over the streams and canals, over the ponds and all the reservoirs—and they will turn to blood.’ Blood will be everywhere in Egypt, even in vessels of wood and stone.”

Exodus 8:1, 5,16,20, 30-31
1 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘This is what the Lord says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me.

5 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand with your staff over the streams and canals and ponds, and make frogs come up on the land of Egypt.’”

16 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the ground,’ and throughout the land of Egypt the dust will become gnats.”

20 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning and confront Pharaoh as he goes to the river and say to him, ‘This is what the Lord says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me.

God gives instruction when you are intimate

30 Then Moses left Pharaoh and prayed to the Lord, 31 and the Lord did what Moses asked.

Your victory relies on your intimacy with God. Moses was a friend of God.

The Holy Spirit came down because of the disciples had intimacy with God.

Exodus 12:1-2
1 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, 2 “This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year.

Exodus 13:22
22 Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.

Exodus 14:14-18
15 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. 16 Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. 17 I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen. 18 The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I gain glory through

Exodus 33:7-9
7 Now Moses used to take a tent and pitch it outside the camp some distance away, calling it the “tent of meeting.” Anyone inquiring of the Lord would go to the tent of meeting outside the camp.
8 And whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people rose and stood at the entrances to their tents, watching Moses until he entered the tent. 9 As Moses went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and stay at the entrance, while the Lord spoke with Moses.

Find a place to meet God and He will tabernacle with you. He wants to talk with you.

Exodus 33:10-11
10 Whenever the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance to the tent, they all stood and worshiped, each at the entrance to their tent. 11 The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.

Intimacy with God, from 1-10 where are you on that line with your intimacy with God.
Are you satisfied ? If you are too low things have to change.
How busy you are doing God’s work ?
It can not replace intimacy with God. Carry His presence. Oh that we could get back to intimacy with God.
How comfortable are you with your intimacy with God?

God planned to be Moses’ best friend but it took time to establish. Make it intentional, know what you want and go after it. Make time, plan it, strategies it.

Jeremiah 24:4-7
4 Then the word of the Lord came to me: 5 “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Like these good figs, I regard as good the exiles from Judah, whom I sent away from this place to the land of the Babylonians. 6 My eyes will watch over them for their good, and I will bring them back to this land. I will build them up and not tear them down; I will plant them and not uproot them. 7 I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.

Barriers to intimacy:
1.Don’t be superficial, dig deep.
There are no short cuts
Jesus is always waiting to be intimate with you. How many times he came and waited but you were too busy. Long for intimacy with God. God wants face to face from the beginning now we have face to face on Facebook!
Now we have WhatsApp but God what’s to know what’s up?

2.A failure to prioritize, God is waiting to be intimate with you. No microwave prayers. The tyranny of the urgent makes you feel resentful.
Start panting for God, we have lost our first love.

3. We focus on information and replace it with intimacy. It may be a great book but you need to get the information from God through intimacy.

4.Unconfessed sin and I surrendered thoughts.

The Apostles stopped waiting on tables so they could be intimate with God.
